Healthy Xmas “Rum Balls”
These chocolatey little treats are a healthy alternative to traditional “rum balls” with no refined sugar or nasties. You can adjust the sweetness / bitterness to taste by adding more or less of the syrup.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup Rolled Oates
- 1 1/2 cup Rice pops (I use the 100% rice ones from the health food aisle)
- 1/2 cup Dark Cocoa
- 1/2 cup Desiccated Coconut
- 2 tbsp Pea Protein (or other protein powder of your choice)
- 2 tbsp Coconut Oil (Melted)
- 2 tbsp Rice Malt syrup or maple syrup
- 5 Fresh dates Chopped into small pieces
- Desiccated Coconut (Extra for rolling balls into)
Instructions
- MethodAdd all dry ingredients to a large bowl & mix until combinedAdd dates & wet ingredientsAdd a little extra water a TBSP at a time until mix is moist and holds togetherRoll into balls any size you like (clean wet hands work best)Roll in desiccated coconutRefrigerate until firm VariationsChoc Mint – add a few drops of peppermint oil / essence to the mix with the wet ingredientsMocha – use add a shot of espresso instead of the waterChoc Orange – add a few drops of orange oil or orange rindBlack Forest – add some chopped fresh cherries
